Oh, the thirst

Reflecting on what the weekend used to mean to us in comparison to what it is now can be somewhat depressing for many. I believe this is why so many of us get slammered drunk on the weekends. Alcohol serves as a coping mechanism to block out memories of the greatness that used to be Friday & Saturday evenings. I’ve tried to stay home on a weekend and watch the malarkey that comes on currently and all I can say is… Stay thirsty, my friends.

Google Drive

It was just released to the wild, and yet I’ve already found cause to question the integrity of the product:

When looking at the list of installed apps, it’s asking me to update the app, when I know for a fact it hasn’t even been installed to my phone. I’m used a rooted phone and a custom ROM, so it’s not like T-Mobile just put it there without my knowledge.

That sort of behavior is disingenuous as best, and evil at worst. Can there now be any doubt Google has just become another company like the rest?

Tupac’s performance was no hologram

Tupac Shakur at Coachella | Performance not a Hologram | Photos.

AV Concepts CEO Nick Smith admits on the company’s website that the technology “is not 3D and not holographic, it gives you … an illusion of that”.

“Everything else on their website has ‘holographic’ splashed all over it … they were certainly under no illusions as to how the thing actually works,” Dr Turner told Fairfax Media.

I did post the video previously.

Snow Patrol at MN State Theatre

Gary Lightbody

Went to see them live for the first time ever! They did not disappoint. Ed Sheeran opened. A few notable things:

  • Ed Sheeran needs to slow down and use his devices less. He gets a bit carried away.
  • Gary Lightbody was having problems with his throat, so the set list had to change; he had to apologize to a fan requesting a song because he couldn’t sing it. Hope he gets better soon, he looked really frustrated.
  • There was a somewhat strange fixation on bodily fluids from both Ed and Gary. Ed took it off his bucket list and Gary even had to go offstage for a bit to take care of business.

That leaves the people attending the show; mostly either over 30 or below 20. Didn’t see anyone jumping around until the very end, when they played “Just Say Yes”. I know the “Minnesota Nice” reputation has to be upheld, but really, at times it seemed like people didn’t know how to react to an upbeat song.

Hope they come back soon. Pictures for your perusal on my Flickr stream (with extra link from TheThirdBar!)
