Verizon and the iPhone

So you’re one of those lucky bastards who got a JesusPhone iPhone.

Guess what!? We at Vz Tech Support won’t help you set it up. We’ll just refer you over to Apple.

And since you ask, we’re only trained to support WEP and will help you set up your wlan on Vz equipment… You wanna use WPA? You are on your own. Most agents will simply refuse to provide assistance setting that up. But I’m going to be nice and tell you where you need to look to set everything up.

  • If you have a Westell Versalink 327w, go here to find the appropiate manual. Default user/pswd = admin/password . If you have talked to Vz Tech Support it might be admin/admin.
  • If you have a Verizon GT or an Actiontec GT modem, go here to find your manual. Default user/pswd = admin/password. If you have talked to Vz Tech Support it might be admin/admin.
  • If you have a Linksys router, go here. A Netgear router, go here; a D-Link router, Go here.
  • An AirPort base? WTF are you doing here? Go here.

Now, the GT modem has a bug with Safari where it won’t let you login to it. If you’re afflicted by this, download and install Firefox, which you should have done right after getting your mac connected to the net for the first time. Some agents will help you setup a linksys router if you’re nice to them, but if you have any other brand you better sharpen those technical 5k1||z because you’re going to need them.
